Looking for new players to play Aussie Rules Football

Want to try a new sport? Or continue playing a sport you played back in Australia?

Then we want you to come down and play for the Vancouver Cougars for season 2010.

We train out at the University of British Columbia through out the season (April->August), and are always looking for new players. Especially Canadians!

If you would like to come down and play (no try outs, everybody gets playing time) in a great, friendly atmosphere, then please email the coach Brad Jorgensen (bjorgo@gmail.com) or give him a call on 778 318 5850.

It’s a great way to meet new people, and have a good time as we frequently have club events such as hockey games, pub nights, paintball and a golf day. We also have optional road trips to places like Calgary for the Calgary Stampede, Seattle and the US Nationals.

Canadian players have the very real opportunity to play for their country at the International AFL Cup held in Australia every 3 years. The Cougars currently have 2 Canadians on the Northwind team (http://www.aflcanada.com/northwind/).

Preseason training has commenced for 2010, so don’t wait any longer!

Hi all, first up, great to see Australian Rules Football overseas. I come from the Land Down Under, and play local footy, and I love it.

Just a quick thought, if you are keen to recruit new players, and a lot of them probably never heard of the game, using the above youtube clip probably isn’t the best idea. As it shows some very confusing images to the eyes of someone who doesn’t know the game. Maybe search for a highlights video instead?

It is just an idea from a guy who loves his footy, and wants to see it go every bit international. But we do not want to confuse people about what the game is about.

P.S, the game isn’t a combination of basketball, racing against horses, American football, boxing, hockey, bull fighting, outback FWD racing and soccer
